Looks pretty interesting. More so than 'Sir you are being hunted' anyway.

Check out more on their Kickstarter video.

In a nutshell:
- Dystopian

- Permadeath

- Procedurally generated

Looks like a BioShock spin-off with some nice added gameplay ideas.

Why does everybody say it looks like BioShock? I don't see it really.

Honestly, gameplay-wise I kind of hope they just focus on the running and hiding from human mob element and take it to a portal-esque level. That and the pretty strong theme would make it an instant purchase for me.

Sadly, there does seem to be combat...

Interesting observation.

Without combat it would turn into a horror type game. Which is not a bad thing. Too much combat could undo that part of the atmosphere and turn it into a slasher.

I'm putting this game in the "I'll check it out in a year or two, maybe pick it up in a humble sale" category.

There are definitely PvE games with combat where combat is largely nonviable. (Sir, You Are Being Hunted for example)

I think combat as an absolute last resort is a pretty good concept.

My biggest expectations are of the procedural gen., if it looks as well made as the video makes it out to be this could be an amazing game.

I'll probably pick it up when I can get it for under €10-15.

Well let's see:

- Slightly cartoonized characters and setting
- Art direction (clothes, furniture, architecture) deeply based on an artistic movement from decades ago
- Dystopian location where an ancient political/philosophical movement has taken over, the flaws of which are clearly shown
- Survival game where the enemies are everyday citizens who believe in the system

See it now?

No BioShock is Steampunk/art deco ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I definitely see the narrative similarities, but visually I think it's a bit of a stretch.
The artistic movement argument I can see but I feel like saying games are similar because they both use the same artistic concept is somewhat easy as well..

But yeah, I can see the resemblance.

It's not a stretch when there are so few games that do that. How many games have their art fully inspired by a certain relatively modern wave? The Bioshock games are the most obvious, but other than that... Hmm, let's see in my library...

- The Fallout series, with atompunk and retrofuturism...
- Wolfenstein, from 2009 onwards, with dieselpunk and brutalism...
- Alien Colonial Marines and Isolation, with their 80's and 70's-inspired retrofuturism, respectively...
- The Mass Effect series (mostly the first game), with its 80's retrofuturism...
- Pathologic, with Petrine baroque and early soviet art...
- Syberia, with art nouveau...

And definitely a lot of other obscure games, which the last two are actually part of.

Which brings me to my conclusion: it is an unusual concept as far as mainstream games are concerned.

I've got good news, bad news, and good news again.

Good, they actually have some gameplay footage.

Bad, combat seems to be the main gameplay element.

Good, this gameplay is very very conceptual, and 6 months old.

It's sure to have transformed many times over since then, and probably will continue to do so until release.
