Since there are birthdays every day for people in LDT why not have one thread where people can post happy birthday messages instead of a new one for each person.

Looking on the LDT calendar there are too many birthdays for any point of a thread for each person in my opinion so what do you think

Actually it might be a good idea, so we dont have to spam the forum with 1000's of threads.

Maybe we should put the birthday threads in their own forum section, instead of spamming News & Information almost every day.

Even better: a single birthday thread, and instead of everyone saying "happy birthday" with slight variations, a single person says "happy birthday x" and everyone "Likes" that post, and that counts as HB from everyone.

I agree with Martin, I believe a thread each is much better as it's easier to notice someones birthday.

e.g. if one big thread was made (birthday thread or whatever) it's generic for everyone, but if you have individual threads each with the name of the birthday boy or girl, it's more identifiable

Also, it leaves room for much nicer posts by people, as in people enjoy the custom of adding relevant images or messages for the birthday person :P

If we're gonna keep having separate threads, then I think we really should have a "Birthdays" sub-section. Though looking at it, that seems slightly ridiculous.

Maybe merge it with "Welcome to LDT"?

I would agree it's a poor idea. Best to have seperate threads, makes it easier to view the birthdays.

Seperate threads are best.

What's wrong with a single thread? It's a fucking birthday not some sort of big event that needs to be separate from everything else. What little meaning a birthday has diminishes quite quickly once you move outside of the immediate family.

As the community grown I've gotten more and more annoyed at the spamming of birthday threads. If you are going to keep it in a subforum, at the least it should be hidden from the "new posts". If you want to see when people's birthdays are, there used to be a calendar for that, bring that back.

Someone also said something about the welcome threads, I say the same thing there, make it a single thread.

Great sollution, Gio. I much rather still have the threads to leave a message for the guy in stead of as OYNO called it: "spam the forum with 1000's of threads."

There's no point discussing this since people will always make their own threads anyway. You shouldn't mind a birthday thread every once in a while. Especially not because it's in a separate forum area. You have the option to ignore it.

I don't feel like moderating this and people hating on other people's birthday threads.

I feel this is a nice solution for both parties.

Okay so that is your personal opinion on the meaning of birthdays outside of immediate family, other people will think differently and may like/get happiness from people they know online wishing them a happy birthday in a thread that can be classed as their own.

Not everyone can think like you Hope :S

Thanks to Gio for taking Loadingue's advice :)
