sounds like a good idea psycix, i always found them a huge downside to the gamemode.

Tbh, I couldn't care less about DayZ imitations these days.
Especially Gmod... how do you expect fit the DayZ concept into the source engine?
Unless you rethink and redesign the whole concept towards a way more casual, perhaps run'n'gun style, this will not end up anywhere.
Making a proper world map would take ages and in order for it not to lag horribly, it would have to look like arse (which pretty much describes the footage I've seen of Gmod DayZ so far).

I've thought a lot about the amount of square kilometers of map you can have in the source engine. Unless you scale EVERYTHING down (making the physics less accurate in the process) you're not going to have anything close to a proper amount of space.

I was sad when I found this out:
Flatgrass IS the maximum map size.

Since you won't need that high of a skybox you can stack a couple layers on top of each other, but even then it will not be big and you'd have to resort to different servers for different areas.

Maximum usable map size is 600mx600m.
This could work when you make it very mountainous.
You could still stack like 4 layers of that under each other, creating 4 large valleys, linked by teleports.

There would be a lot of chokepoints, I fear... which makes banditing kinda OP.

I'm generally not against the idea of making a DayZ similar mod for source... but not in Gmod and not copying DayZ in that sense, because the HL2 universe is actually more entertaining and charming than the Arma2 one.
So I see some potential, but it should be handled differently from the very start.

rp_apocalypse, is a rather average map, But still very well made, With its layers and such. Took me an hour to fully converse the side of the map without getting mauled by zombies.

FRAG will be unavailable for an unknown period of time for personal reasons.


Besides, I think there are a couple of other priorities. Like admin mod and map voting system.

Because it's the worst adminmod ever. It made the servers lag like crazy.

Don't know if it will be that popular, anyways. Not been on that much lately, but TTT's been awfully empty recently.

I am waiting for the map voting system to flood the servers with new maps.
There are actually so many maps that have to go on, I'll need the feedback from the new system not to get raged at every other second.

TTT is dead because we couldn't make a decent enough gaming experience to hold a playerbase since it reached the stage of impossible to moderate...
