Porky, Everything in your .minecraft folder will not be effected by Tekkit, Nor will effect Tekkit.

To play tekkit, you just launch the "Tekkitlauncher". Its the thing you get when you download.

Do not delete meta inf. Tekkit has it's own minecraft.jar so you do not have to modify your original file. Also you do not need modloader. Did you try and install the latest java?

Also do not launch the TechnicLauncer.exe that just seems to be the installere only. But launch tekkit-launcher.jar which can be found in yout tekkit directory.

Hmm, when I try and launch tekkit, it puts up the launcher then comes up with can't find Java directory. I installed Modloader to see if that was the problem and also deleted META-INF but nada. Any help?

Try installing both 64- and 32 bit java, go to the start button, type in searchbox: %appdata%, you will see a folder called .techniclauncher, delete that, click on installer again, if it still doesn't work, go to that .techniclauncher folder again, open it and run the .jar file that's made inside it. This file should be running automaticly, but it's a strange bug.
Hope this helped, and have a nice day.

Yeah, it did that problem for me, i just downloaded 64 bit java and it worked. This does NOT mean 64bit is the right version for your computer.

EPIC FIX FOUND!

I found it out! If you get, when trying to open the jar file located in .technicpack some error of a wrong path, download this:

http://johann.loeffl...oads/jarfix.exe

Just run it as admin, and try opening the jar file! Works like a charm! Fixes your whole PC when it comes to JAR files :D

I'm happy :)

Hope this helped everyone who will read this!

When I run the Tekkit Launcher, it says "Can't find Java directory."
What does it mean?!

It means you need to install java or it is not in the right place/wrong version

You got choice between 64-bit or 32-bit, you need to find which works best for your pc.

Ill tell you what is best: if your os is 32 bit, install that. If it is 64, install both. (yes, normally you would just install the 64 bit version, but java is weird and requires installing both!)

LDT is LDT.
