It is now possible to fire outputs of a relay on race start, countdown start or race end.
Read first post :)

Its untested but it should work just fine.

Yes.

If you have a good reason that may convince me to code an entity that differs between such a thing then let me know. :)

There is no mention of this anywhere in this thread.

Thought I'd chuck these in here as the are not listed in psycix OP list.

ent_leaderscreen brush
Required:
Recommended to have in the waiting area.
Description:
This is where the website address is drawn. Usually best to create this as a square brush face. Needs to have a matching info_leaderscreen_face. It is recommended to make sure the entity center is in the middle of the brush.
Keyvalues:
screen_id The number needs to match number of scoreboard face entity.

info_leaderscreen_face point
Required:
If you have a ent_leaderscreen, this entity is required.
Description:
A leaderscreen needs to know which side is front. Place this in front of the screen, exactly in the middle. If you have multiple leader screens, make sure each of them have their own unique screen_id on the ent_leaderscreen and info_leaderscreen_face pair.
Keyvalues:
screen_id The number needs to match id of ent_leaderscreen this entity belongs to.

While I'm here though, why is this called ent_leaderscreen? surely it should go as follows

*The current map participants list should be called ent_leaderscreen.

*The map records should be ent_scoreboard.

*The website panel should be moved to a new entity called ent_advert.

Also ent_scoreboard throws a hissy fit if you give ent_leaderscreen the same number ids in the testing tool.

WARNING: A scoreboardface has the same ID as another one! This may cause scoreboard misalignments!

So I'm assuming the tool thinks that both entities are the same.

Way before we ever hosted gmr, the leaderscreen would show the view of the first player in the race, hence the name.
This function has been broken for a very long time, even before gmod13.

So until someone feels like remaking that whole system for gmod13, we show the URL of the website.

Edit: I checked my code. That bug should not exist unless some code is coaxing into a snafu, but with code as simple as this it is near impossible...
I think you have two scoreboardfaces with the same number. Check your hammer. Maybe it's two inside of eachother and the tool is actually doing a really good job :P

Nope I checked, I only have one scoreboard and one leaderscreen.

You code is snafu.

Thanks for adding that, FRAG!

I don't like the idea of separating the leaderbord from the scoreboard for the simple reason that people fuck their scoreboards up enough as it is, this will almost double the error vulnerability.

That's a fair enough point bob.

And why won't the leaderscreen work now then? surely all you need to do is give ent_leaderscreen some monitor properties (or call it into the entity) and then mount an RT camera to the car in 1st place based on the buggy attachment points?

This is probably a dumb question, but all of these entities are the same in the new gmod13 version, correct?

Also, it would be a cool feature to have an entity that outputs the round/race number and/or the number of players left. This way you could have have obstacles appear or disappear depending on these values. On race maps you could have the course get harder every race and maybe even have dynamic race tracks. The number of players left would probably only be used in the deathmatch mode and could make more traps and things activate the fewer players were left. Maybe include the time left in seconds on deathmatch as well for the same purpose? IDK just some random ideas I had.

Now that I think of it, on race maps all this would effect high scores, so maybe for deathmatch only?

    Maps - Models - Textures

This made me think about something.
Does cameras and monitors made in hammer editor work in GMR?
From what I've seen, the monitor seems to always be buggy in the game mode, but cameras seem to work.
For example, here's the monitor in Robotwars XL:
Spoiler

I've tested it in the gmodracer testing game mode, and it works there. But from what I've seen on those few gmr maps that do have monitors, it doesn't seem to work properly.

Just looks like the monitor texture isnt fitted to the face of the brush.

    Maps - Models - Textures

Posted 07 June 2013 - 18:19

It's the same on Lighthouse, the texture isn't fit to the brush. To me, it doesn't make sense that a mapper can miss something so obvious, i mean, that's what map testing is for :P. I'll try to de-compile robotwars XL and see if it's properly fit or not.. just gotta re-install source sdk first, it somehow uninstalled itself over night o_O

Edit: I've now decompiled robotwars XL, and yeah, the texture wasn't properly fit.

RT Cameras are a part of Source. I don't see any reason why they shouldn't work in GMR.

It's not the cameras problem bamboy, it's like I thought, the monitor textures on the brush are not "fitted" to the brush face thus creating a tiled effect.
