I know it's not my project but I felt the need to do something. Seeing as a lot of people want the LDT logo upgraded to the sexy new one, I thought I would give it a go!

(NOTE: I haven't tried it as my HAMMER CS:S fails with error "can't find background widescreen001.(something) "")

Source SDK is yet to be updated for the new SteamPipe.

It'll be better in the end. Here is a temp workaround (not a fix - there's still a few issues. Read the whole post before doing any changes). Note that changes to the gameinfo.txt should be reverted once Source SDK gets updated to SteamPipe. Make a backup.

OR

Just use other versions of Source SDK, CS:S, HL2MP, DOD:S (and soon) TF2 are the only SDK's messed up as they rely on the Source MP engine.

Just use something like HL2, EP1, EP2, Portal, Portal 2, CS:GO etc etc etc.


I actually advise you from doing the workaround, your causing more hassle then you should be with it.

Thanks for the help, I presume all this work on the SteamPipe is for the Piston (steam box) like the big screen feature. It's just soooo annoying, just when everyhing is working, SteamPipe comes out, Garry makes an update, balls it up, fixes it crappily (mine is still broken with hats and custom DLs) hen does nothing. Just to add to it, Source SDK goes and sais F you, imma break to. Geea... Cant wait for the piston though.

Nothing to do with the.piston.

It's to allow better optimization of game content using .VPK files and faster updates that will stop games breaking like we keep seeing.

I improved upon the version posted above.

Fixed most overlapping brushes.
All textures are "dev/dev_measurecolorscale01" super zoomed in to improve memory usage. (Not that it matters that much, LOL!)
Everything is nodraw except what is visible.
Made it thinner.
Made a duplicate at twice the size.

Eels wierd making suggestions on my own work thats been edited! :D Looks sweet, one thing I hadnt niticed as I can't play maps easy cus of SteamPipe (Rrr...) is that the S, D and O of lets do this look a bit dodgey as I am a noob with the arch tool. :) Otherwise, we have created a masterpiece! xD

Q: did you compile the map in HAMMER ans then play on gmod, compile on valve compiler tool thing then play on gmod or do you have a gmod config for hammer?

I rarely use hammer's built in compiler. This time was an exception because it was a small map and wasn't worth opening VBCT, the compiler I normally use. And yeah, I do have a garrysmod config. It isn't that hard to set up if you know the directories.

I'm not the best with Hammer, I just got a screenshot of the logo, made it into a texture and copied it shape for shape almost. I tried to optimise it but I'm crap with all that shizzle ! :D
Do you mean the T of LDT or Let's do this? They look better than my terrible D and O, and slightly the S.

Like I said, I did use a texture of the LDT logo, but that doesn't mean it was perfect. The texture was roughly scaled, wasn't in scale with the actual logo on the website. Parts might be stretched / compressed but the T is in "scale" with the D. There was also a bit of artistic licence with the long text as I'm not the best with Hammer. :P
